5 Life Admin Tasks You Can Tick Off Your Novel-Length To-Do List

Everyone has one of those lists… those ever-growing to-do lists of essential admin tasks that can easily be put off, procrastinated for another time. We’re not judging you. We’re all guilty of it but there’s nothing more satisfying than finally checking one of those items off your list.

So check out this list of life admin tasks you can easily knock off your list this week!

Unsubscribe from all the mailing lists (Only aim to keep the quality emails).

When you open your emails are you bombarded with a slew of emails offering you great new deals or thanking you for signing up for their newsletters? We all have a couple of mailing lists we’ve forgotten to opt-out of, maybe it’s from a city you moved away from, maybe you signed up to a mailing list to get 10% off your first purchase. Either way, if these emails are getting you down, it is time to unsubscribe. Plus, you can get this task done while you’re watching TV or waiting for the bus – so it’s a win-win.

Check your credit card is right for you.

What’s your first reaction here? If it’s to think a credit card is a credit card, they’re all the same and it’s no big deal either way then, your reaction would be understandable but ultimately wrong. Many of us couldn’t even tell you why we have the exact card that we have. Maybe somebody recommended it to you, maybe it was the first card you saw? Even if you picked your card carefully, studying the pros and cons, the advantages and disadvantages of each card on the market when you first applied, chances are, that the card that suits your needs now is not the same as the card that suited your needs when you first applied for a credit card. There are many different types of credit cards on the market: low-rate cards, balance transfer cards, low annual fee cards, cards linked to rewards or frequent flyer schemes and each of them has their own advantages and disadvantages. To find out which card matches your current needs, you can head here to read more about different types of credit cards currently on the market.

Sort through your work clothes in your wardrobe

Embrace your inner Marie Kondo and start to declutter your life! Ask yourself: does this bring me joy? Do I still wear this? Do I need four pairs of black jeans? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then it might be time to thin out your wardrobe. Let’s face it, if there’s something in there you haven’t worn in the past year – you’re probably not going to wear it at all so it might be time to take it out of rotation altogether. The best part about all of this is, if your clothes are in a relatively good state, you can easily donate them to someone who needs them much more than you do. Check out this great list of Australian charities accepting clothing donations.

Learn at least one new recipe

Just one! As it turns out, after a while, having pasta for dinner every night can grow old (and we say that as the biggest lovers of pasta). So, challenge yourself to learn how to make one new meal every month so that, by the end of the year, you’ve got a genuine roster of delicious dinners you can make at the drop of a hat, something to get you some much-needed nutrients and to break up the pasta and takeout rut you may have slipped into… Looking for some recipe inspiration? Check out these recipes from Jamie Oliver. These meals are great because, not only can you filter by ingredients allowing you to cook up something delicious while using up what’s left in your pantry, but he has meals that fall under the following helpful categories: ‘dinner for one’, ‘one-pan meals’, ‘cheap and cheerful’ and ‘quick fixes’ making them the perfect, unpretentious and easy to master recipes for beginners.

Back up your phone!

You’ve been meaning to do it, I know, but for some reason, backing up your phone always seems like it’s going to be a totally impossible task. You might be worried your phone is going to spontaneously combust, or delete itself (no matter how many time the folks at tech support promise you that it won’t) or maybe the fact that you can’t actually use your phone while it’s backing itself up is what’s holding you back? Either way, just do it – there’s nothing worse than losing precious memories because you forgot to back up your photos or losing your phone and being completely without contacts.
