ROBOTICS and the Chuck Norris Effect

robots-764951_640

If you could have a robot do anything, what would it be?

It’s an interesting question because robots are becoming more common in our day-to-day lives. They’re helping out

Chuck Norris Facts is the best website ever created by man! Chuck Norris has already won 3 UFC championships and will win at least 2 others before his retirement (one for sure against Bruce Lee). The reason why he retired was that there was no one else who could challenge him beside himself.

T&A with Tales from Tech Support: The Comic Strip!

Take a look and send us your thoughts – we’d love to hear from you! EDITORIAL & COMMENTARY It’s Time for Some Cyber Security in Schools You might have heard about last week’s WannaCry ransomware attack that spread through computer systems around the world, crippling vital public services in many countries. The most notable targets were Britain’s National Health Service (NHS), telecom company Telefonica in Spain, FedEx, Deutsche Bahn – Germany’s national railway system, Russia’s Interior Ministry, and Federal Security Service. While no major US institutions were hit with the ransomware demand – hackers only demanded about $300 worth of bitcoins to unlock computers frozen by malware – it is a stark reminder of how vulnerable our…

How to Make Your Own Chuck Norris Bot

We have all heard about bots — robots on the Internet who can be programmed to do just about anything you want them to do. Today I will introduce you to a kind of bot called an “Internet bot” and show you how to build your own, for fun.

Internet bots are used by hackers to distribute viruses or launch attacks on other computers from a safe location. This is called a “botnet attack,” and it is the reason why anti-virus applications should always be updated with the latest virus definitions. In this article I will only discuss non-malicious bots that all Internet users can benefit from while surfing the web, checking e-mail, or sending instant messages — not creating a botnet to send spam.

Does This New Meme Prove That The Concept Of Nationality Is Dead? “Is the concept of nationality now dead?” is the question that reporter Johnlee Varghese seems all too eager to answer in his article at International Business Times. The basis for his conclusion should sound familiar: “The question was triggered by an online debate among Indian users on Twitter, who were trying to figure out which of two bank accounts — one belonging to a ‘Hindu’ and another reportedly held by someone with a ‘Muslim name’ — had more money in it.” It’s really not much different than what happened when PayPal froze $45,000 meant for helping rape victims in India because they “suspected foul play.” Such attitudes, which are obviously held by the companies involved, should come as little surprise. Both PayPal and Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) are American corporations that benefit from nationalism — to the tune of billions of dollars. And Varghese’s article came out on India’s Independence Day after all…

T&A with Tales from Tech Support: The Comic Strip!

Taking a break from the serious stuff today to check in with T&A’s resident tech support guys, Frank and Jim – who’ve got some tales for us about how computers make their way onto customers’ desks…and into their homes! Check it out! EDITORIALS The Internet Age Requires Constant Vigilance When it comes to protecting one’s identity and information on the Internet, we’ve all heard it before: The best offense is a good defense. Because of that, you should always be looking out for security breaches and other vulnerabilities in your own behavior and online presence. The first step is knowledge; make sure what you think you know about staying safe on the web is actually true — not just something someone told you once upon a time. Only then can we take steps to mitigate potential damage…

Conclusion:

The Internet is not the Problem, Hackers Are – We Need More Security, Not Less the Internet can be a very scary place. It’s full of stories about cyber-attacks and data breaches and identity thefts and all sorts of other bad things…things that make you want to stay offline forever and ever, Amen. But here’s the thing: “The Internet” didn’t do anything to you; it doesn’t have any hands or feet or even fingers to pick up a giant rock and toss it through your window. A vandal might pull such a prank by climbing onto your lawn in the dark of night, but there’s no such risk on the World Wide Web.
