This Is One Of The Most Important Decisions You Make #5MinMotivation

You make decisions every single day.  Some are minor decisions that if made poorly have no negative impact to your success.  There are other decisions you make that can cause a huge impact to your level of happiness, success and increase or decrease your chances to achieve your goals.

Last week, I was invited to an Executive meeting.  The company is going through radical changes in operational, product and marketing strategies.  In order to ensure proper execution of the initiatives, a “Q3 Planning and Strategy team” was assembled to; set up, plan, implement and follow-up with the right actions.  I was invited to join the team as a representative for the Operations side.  It was my first Executive meeting with Vice Presidents and high level directors.

Here is some of what I observed in their behaviors:

** Every second counts towards or against your productivity

** Focus is always a priority

** Set high standards and don’t compromise

** Establish and commit to the actions that will bring the greatest return

I left that meeting inspired.  Inspired not for the content of the meeting itself but for the influence it projected on me.  I observed high standards, high motivation and high discipline.

It got me to thinking of one of Jim Rohn’s most famous quotes.

One of the most important decisions you can make is who you allow to influence you.  Who are you around?  The more you surround yourself with people who have achieved significant results, the greater the chance you will be influenced in a positive way.  Whether through a MasterMind group, personal mentoring or even through FaceBook groups with similar interests, you should invest your time in people with high standards.  Read books or listen to Podcasts with influencers who have achieved success in an area you want to improve on.

In this week’s #5MinMotivation post, take a moment to reflect on the following questions:
  • Are you aware of who is influencing you?
  • Do you have a high standard for who you allow to influence you?
  • Are you being intentional with the leadership you hold and the leadership you allow around you?

Our lives can get pretty hectic and it can be easy to get lost in our actions.  When we are so focused on what is ahead, we forget to pause, reflect and find ways to energize our minds.  These 5-minute motivation posts are meant to give you that recharge. The goal is to give you a 5-minute Vitamin for your mind through quotes, posts and videos.  It is also meant to challenge your thinking and inspire you to take action.
