The 3 Networks Every Leader And Entrepreneur Should Have

As an Introvert, it took me a while to fully believe in the importance of networking.  Mostly motivated by my fear to “put myself out there”, I convinced myself that it wasn’t an essential formula for success.  As I progressed in my career and my span of control grew, I began to understand the true benefits of networking.

When you look at any successful entrepreneurial launch, it almost always involves a launch team.  It is extremely rare when a new product is launched without a prelaunch team and achieves huge levels of success.  When a new CEO joins a company, what is one of the first actions he takes?  Normally, he asks advice from his Network.  Networking is a really valuable way to expand your knowledge, learn from others and create a mutually beneficial relationship.

Networking is not only an investment in yourself, but in your business.   When done correctly and with sincerity, it can bring returns for years to come.  Having a wide network that you can refer to can save you tons of time.  It can be like the rabbit you pull out of your hat in times of need.

“Networking with integrity creates a greater willingness of all parties to be part of a human conduit to serve as energy and resource to one another. Sometimes you will give more than you receive and sometimes you will get back more than you give. It’s not about keeping score.” – Chris London

Here are 3 Networking Priorities Every Leader and Entrepreneur Should Have:

Recruitment Network:  If you are in a leadership position and having to hire talent on an occasional basis, remember the rule, “Always Be Recruiting”.  You should always be on the lookout for Top Talent and keep a good bank of potential Future Players.  This way, if a position opens up, you don’t need to spend weeks or months looking for the right person.  It can save you a lot of lost time in the future.

Mastermind Network:   A Mastermind is a group of individuals who are seeking a common goal.  There are several Mastermind groups available to join.  A word of caution, make sure you pick a Group that is right for you.   Especially if there is a financial investment involved, ensure your ROI will be present.  Look for a Group whose leader has a proven track record of success in the area you strive to improve on.  The leader should not only possess the competencies but should also have the capacity to Coach.  The Mastermind should also have a set training schedule with key subjects to be covered on a monthly basis.

The greatest advantage in joining a Mastermind group is in having an Accountability partner.  Someone who can connect with on a weekly basis and review where you stand on your goals.  It is the secret of why Weight Watchers works so well.  Having an accountability partner that challenges you to set the right goals and perform the right actions will drive you to be more productive.  A group of individuals that understands where you are coming from can propel you further than if you were “going it alone”.

Mentorship/Coaching Network:  Similar to a Mastermind group but more of a one on one communication.  Do you have a mentor?
