First Aid Kit
Safety first, especially when it comes to physically demanding jobs. On a construction site, accidents will happen. All construction sites need an extensive first aid kit, and it’s best to have more than one on-site.
A first aid kit can tend to the workers and fix whatever injuries they have. Of course, anyone with problems that a first aid kit can’t solve needs to make their way to the emergency room. If they have sustained an injury that hinders their work, make sure they take the rest of the day off to heal.
Extra Protective Gear
All construction workers wear personal protective equipment (PPE) recommended by OSHA. Keeping a couple of extra pieces of gear around the site for the crew will help ensure the safety of others. Sometimes, the gear your crew owns has endured some wear and tear.
An extra hard hat, pair of eyewear, or earmuffs couldn’t hurt anyone. If you have visitors who frequent the site, you need to have extra gear for them. Chances are they won’t have any items of their own, and now they don’t need to worry about purchasing any.
Portable Restroom Trailers
Construction workers do most of their work outside or in a place that doesn’t have functioning indoor plumbing. The site needs portable restroom trailers for the workers. Consider purchasing a trailer versus a regular porta-potty. The trailers are sturdier and function better on sites.
Make sure you purchase a couple of trailers with holding tanks because the vessels hold all the waste for an extended period. Construction jobs operate on their own timeline, and you never know how long they will take.
An Emergency Plan
Start every construction job with an emergency plan. It can be a standard emergency plan or an emergency evacuation plan. In case of fire, there needs to be a fire extinguisher on site and a plan of evacuation.
Make sure the workers of the site are familiar with the plan, and you have posters around the site so that everyone knows the standard operating procedures. Test everyone’s knowledge so that if the moment ever comes, they know what to do.
