Planning the Perfect Baby Shower: 101

Perhaps you have valiantly taken on the organization of your own baby shower or alternatively, you have been tasked with planning the event for a family member or your best friend.

Either way, it is time to plan the shower of the century! Here is a guide on exactly how to make that happen.

Treat Every Baby as the First

First and foremost, it is a good idea to treat every baby as the first child, both for the person planning the party and for the mom-to-be.

The birth of a new baby is always worth a celebration, so do not think you can scrimp on any aspect; from the gifts and games to the food and how many people you choose to invite.

Send Invites at Least a Month in Advance

Even though it is, admittedly, more than a little easier to invite everyone through Facebook or another social media platform, there is nothing like receiving a paper invitation through the mail, and proper baby shower etiquette indicates you should do just that.

Send the invitations (complete with any theme you may have picked and any games you would like the guests to bring) at least one month before the date of the shower and be sure to include an RSVP contact.

Other details to include on your baby shower invitations should involve the location, the time, the date, and a contact e-mail address or phone number.

Provide Table Gifts

There is nothing more perfect for setting the tone of the entire baby shower than either handing out gift bags as the invitees enter the room or alternatively, if you are planning a sit-down meal, laying out unique yet affordable gifts from maplegifts.co.uk on the tables.

Examples of exciting gifts for the table or indeed, party favors handed out either at the beginning or the end of the evening could include:

  • Soaps
  • Hand creams
  • Jelly Belly baby beans
  • Scented candles
  • Personalized bath bombs

Choose a Theme for the Food

Now, you may well be planning on holding the shower at a favourite restaurant of the mom-to-be and if so, then the only point you need to think about regarding food is letting the guests know the price point.

However, alternatively, if you are planning a picnic in the woods or another more unusual venue, then it is time to turn your attention to what you will feed everyone. You could go down the intimate brunch route and prepare decadent sandwiches, scones, and cakes, or maybe choose a theme you know the mommy-to-be loves, such as a Mexican feast or Spanish tapas.

Don’t Forget the Decorations!

Finally, make sure you start to collect balloons, banners, and garlands for the baby shower as soon as you can and (if you have the time to shop around) you could save yourself a considerable amount of money, rather than buying them at the last minute.

If you already know the gender of the baby, you could choose a conventional route of blues or pinks for a boy or girl respectively, or instead choose a favourite movie franchise or Disney film theme.
