Does the start of a new year, inspire you to want and accomplish more?  Do you feel like with the start of a new year, you can have a blank slate on all your previous goals that were not accomplished?

A recent hashtag Twitter trend #NewYearsResolutionIn5Words, got me thinking about how important it is to simplify what it is you desire.  What will this Year mean to you?  Don’t over complicate your Motto.  Nike’s “Just Do It”, despite being extremely simple, inspired millions with those three words.

What will your 5 words be?  What 5 words will be meaningful enough to you to fuel your “Why” throughout the year?  If the word resolution isn’t powerful enough to you, call it your Motto, your Goal, your Philosophy, or anything that connects with you.

What is my #NewYearsResolutionIn5Words?

My Blog header is a clue.  Dream It.  Do It.  Inspire.

Dream It

As you dream, create goals and envision what you want, your life starts to become intentional.  You are not a victim of circumstances.  You don’t just let life take you where it decides.  You start designing your own life and create your plan of what YOU consider your own priorities.

Another great set of 5 words are, “To live life with intention”.

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” –  Jim Rohn

I have set some specific goals of what I want to accomplish this year.  This will be my compass during my journey towards my dreams.

Do It.

Why do so many resolutions fail?  It ends in the planning phase.  It is easy to dream, to think about what you desire.  The hard part is in the doing and to continue to hammer away despite the frustrations, setbacks and fatigue.

“What’s worked for me is not quitting and being passionate about what I do and not giving up – and when I don’t believe in myself, turning to others who believe in me.” –  Marc Jacobs

Inspire

One of the biggest rewards for me is when someone tells me that they achieved something of value to them because of the influence I have had on them.  It is in serving others that we learn more about ourselves.

“We all have a life story and a message that can inspire others to live a better life or run a better business. Why not use that story and message to serve others and grow a real business doing it? “  – Brendon Burchard
