When people think of vacations, their minds often go to secluded beaches in California or island destinations elsewhere: but Vermont is what we should all be thinking about.  Although this may surprise many, Burlington, Vermont, is one of the most amazing vacation destinations out there.  From delicious food, charming locals, and an incredible history, you won’t want to leave!

Here are some of the best parts.

Gorgeous Parks

There’s no stopping the beauty of the parks in Burlington.  Oakledge park lets you mix new and old-world fascination with the beautiful stone designs right next to the open water.  You can enjoy taking picnics on the green or spend your mornings jogging or walking over the gorgeous greenery.

There are plenty of different parks, offering dozens of various activities: if you ever need a breath of fresh air, this is the place to find it.

In-Depth Museums

The museums in Burlington don’t shy away from the long past of it and the state.  Although Burlington is only 156 years old, these lands were populated off and on beforehand, and most of the museums here go into depth on what that means.  Multiple exhibits discuss the importance of learning from our past and creating a better future.  Many of these are about the pollution and healing of Lake Champlain and why it’s come as far as it has.

Fantastic Waterfront Views

Although Vermont is completely landlocked: you can still have plenty of beautiful waterfront views.  Most of Burlington sits on Lake Champlain, with Canada in the distance.  Because of this, there are multiple water conservation programs and museums, and plenty of boating and restaurants that offer views of the water as you dine.  It’s not a tropical island, but it’s got enough water views to make you feel like you may be on one!

The Food Is Fresh And Unique

Burlington has a summer-long farmers’ market that is guaranteed to thrill.  Vermont produces more maple syrup than anywhere else in the USA and is also a big producer of apples, carrots, potatoes, and other fantastic treats.  When you try some fresh food from here, you’ll fall in love and want to smuggle more home in your luggage.  Don’t worry, though!  You can always come back and look at Burlington houses for sale so that you don’t have to say goodbye to truly fresh produce for very long.

You Can Still Have Fun In the Sun

As said before, Vermont is completely landlocked: but Burlington has more than just one beach!  These beaches on the edge of Lake Champlain have beautiful white sand, and in the summer, they’re indistinguishable from oceanside beaches.  You can frolic in the gorgeous waters of the late, enjoy tanning on the sand, and have more fun than you ever could be stranded on an island!

Burlington is a one-of-a-kind city.  If you have the time and interest, give this incredible place a try, and you’ll see why so many people have fallen in love with its charm.
