Key Effective Leadership Traits – Roselinde Torres on Ted Talk [Video]


In this video, Roselinde Torres shares a study of 4000 companies that were asked about the effectiveness of their leadership programs.

She further questions:

Why is the leadership gap widening?

What are the successful leaders doing?

It is true that companies invest so much money in leadership programs without seeing an increase in effective leadership.  Is it in the program itself or in the follow-up of the training program after?  A topic for a future blog post.

Roselinde suggests you ask three questions in order to measure your leadership effectiveness:

  • Where are you looking to anticipate change?
  • What is the diversity measure of your personal and professional network?
  • Are you courageous enough to abandon the past? Even abandon a practice that made you successful.

I particularly enjoy question 3.  Too often we stick to the same methods because it worked for us in the past only to fail to realize that it is no longer an effective method.
